Representation ≠ Liberation

Post #7 in Brave Sis Project’s “United We Stand” series, a 31-part countdown to 2026 inspired by courageous Black, Brown, Asian, and Indigenous Foremothers

In 2025, it is estimated 300,000 Black American professional women lost their jobs. Don’t stop being angry just because DOGE went back to the kennel.

And let’s talk about who might still be in the C-suite. Did one Black or Brown woman in the C-suite ever make up for centuries of exclusion?

Did Black woman on the board erase systemic barriers and discrimination?

Did one Indigenous woman featured in an ad campaign reverse the tragic, violent legacy of displacement and erasure?

Did one South or South-east Asian woman standing in a so-called “hall of power” uplift the community in measurable ways?

You know that’s a hard no.

Representation without transformation is just oppression with some perfume and mascara slapped on.

To go deeper, be real, and engender trust, we need to shift mindsets and commit to BELONGING, EQUITY, and SYSTEMIC CHANGE.

That’s what Brave Sis Project strives for. Check out our resources to learn more.
